Hon. Joseph Nelson is the Western Regional Minister of the Republic of Ghana, responsible for coordinating government administration and development across the Western Region. He was appointed by the President of Ghana and duly approved by Parliament, and currently serves as the government’s principal representative in the region.

Hon. Nelson has a strong academic background in economics and finance. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with Management Science from the University of Northampton (UK), a Master of Science degree in International Finance and Economic Policy from the University of Glasgow (UK), and an additional Master of Science degree in Microfinance from the University of Cape Coast.

Prior to his appointment as Regional Minister, he served as the Western Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), where he worked on youth employment, skills development, and public sector coordination initiatives. His professional experience combines economic policy, public administration, and development-focused leadership.

As Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson has prioritised investment promotion, sustainable resource management, youth empowerment, environmental protection, and collaboration with traditional authorities and local government institutions. He is recognised for his calm, inclusive, and results-oriented leadership approach, with a strong commitment to peace, development, and improved livelihoods for the people of the Western Region.
