Nana Kobina Nketsia V is the Paramount Chief (Omanhen) of the Essikado Traditional Area in Ghana’s Western Region, and the President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs. Widely respected as a traditional ruler, scholar, and cultural advocate, he is known for bridging indigenous leadership with contemporary governance, intellectual thought, and national development.

An accomplished academic, Nana Kobina Nketsia V is a trained historian with a strong background in African and Pan-African studies. He is an alumnus of Mfantsipim School, holds a degree in Modern History from the University of Ghana, and earned a PhD in African History. His professional career has included university teaching, research, and public intellectual engagement on African culture, governance, and development.

Beyond traditional leadership, he has served Ghana in several high-level public roles, including chairing and serving on national boards such as the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation. He has also played prominent leadership roles within the chieftaincy institution, including service at the level of the Western Regional House of Chiefs.

Nana Kobina Nketsia V is a passionate advocate for cultural preservation, Pan-African unity, environmental protection, and value addition to Africa’s natural resources. He has been instrumental in promoting heritage projects and cultural institutions, including initiatives linked to Pan-African memory and historical education.
